Forwarding State Reduction for Sparse Mode Multicase Communication

چکیده
| Reducing forwarding state overhead of multicast routing protocols is an important issue towards a scalabile global multicast solution. In this paper, we propose a new approach, Dynamic Tunnel Multicast, which utilizes dynamically established tunnels on unbranched links of a multicast distribution tree to eliminate unnecessary multicast forwarding states. Analysis and simulation results show promising reduction in the state overhead of sparse mode multicast routing protocols.

Scalability Improvement of Sparse-mode Multicast Protocols
Forwarding state explosion may cause scalability problem of multicast protocols. In order to improve the scalability of existent multicast protocols, in this paper a novel technique, called Dynamic Overlap Tree Path (DOTP), is introduced. This algorithm dynamically find overlapped tree paths and emerge their forwarding state to reduce the state storage requirement in multicast routers without i...
متن کاملPerformance Study and Deployment Strategies on the Sender-Initiated Multicast
Although IP Multicast offers efficient data delivery for large group communications, the most critical issue delaying widespread deployment of IP Multicast is the scalability of multicast forwarding state as the number of multicast groups increases. Sender-Initiated Multicast (SIM) was proposed as an alternative multicast forwarding scheme for small group communications with incremental deploym...
متن کاملProtocol Independent Multicast Based States Allocation
In this paper the Protocol Independent Multicast (PIM) protocol is being used. The PIM protocol avoids the packet drop and diverting problem. The PIM protocol is not dependent on any specific unicast routing protocol. It is IP routing independent protocol. The PIM uses the unicast and multicast information to create a distribution tree along the reverse path from the receivers towards the sourc...

Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs) represent promising technologies of cyber-physical systems for improving driving safety and communication mobility. Due to the highly dynamic driving patterns of vehicles, effective packet forwarding, especially for time sensitive data, has been a challenging research problem. متن کاملOn Uncoordinated Wireless Ad-Hoc Networks: Data Dissemination over WIFI and Cross-Layer Optimization for Ultra Wide Band Impulse Radio
Emerging pervasive wireless networks, pocket switched networks, Internet of things, vehicular networks and even sensor networks present very challenging communication circumstances. They might involve up to several hundreds of wireless devices with mobility and intermittent connectivity. Centralized coordination in such networks is practically unfeasible. We deal with these challenge using two ...
